by Jay Kang on Oct 25, 2024
If you thought Korean tanghulu was the ultimate trendy treat, think again!
These days, Dubai chocolate is stealing the show and Korean MZs (Millennials and Gen Z) are obsessed.
But what’s all the fuss about?

But what’s all the fuss about?
What's the big deal?
It all started when a video of a Dubai influencer, Maria Behara, indulging in a mouthwatering Dubai chocolate went viral.
Her video sparked a frenzy, and soon, everyone in Korea was trying to get their hands on this sweet, gooey treat.

Dubai chocolate is essentially a decadent dessert featuring a crispy, flaky exterior and a rich, creamy filling often made with pistachio and a sweet, shredded pastry called kataifi.
It's a delightful combination of textures and flavors that has captured the hearts (and taste buds) of many.

The hype is real, and so are the challenges!
The exact chocolate brand Maria ate, called “Fix,” is so in-demand that finding it in Korea is nearly impossible.
If you do manage to locate it, be ready to pay a premium—some fans even pay extra for a chance to get it!
Import companies are working hard to bring more Dubai chocolate into Korea, and a few convenience stores are even releasing similar versions.
It’s such a craze that people are lining up for it like it’s the latest iPhone release.

So, is it worth the hype?
When I finally got my hands on some Dubai chocolate (not Fix, but close enough), I knew I had to try it.
It cost around $7 to $8 per piece, which is steep, but totally worth it.
Inside, there’s a layer of crunchy kataifi (think thin, crispy noodles) with a smooth pistachio butter filling.
The texture is both crunchy and creamy—a totally unique experience.
But beware, it’s so rich that one tiny piece lasted me four days!
