Rosé & Bruno Mars Heat Up the Charts with "APT" - Inspired by a Wild Korean Drinking Game!
BLACKPINK's Rosé and Bruno Mars just dropped their latest single, "APT," on October 18, 2024. This vibrant track is a sneak peek of Rosé’s debut album, Rosie, set to release on December 6. Inspired by Korea’s popular drinking game, the "Apartment Game," this song and its music video capture the fun and energy of the game with a playful beat and loads of clapping, chanting, and pure fun.
Music Video Vibes: Picture Rosé and Bruno getting into the game spirit, clapping along and taking on mini-challenges that nod to the original game. The video has this mix of K-pop’s catchy energy and Bruno Mars’s signature retro-pop-punk style, bringing fans an instant hit that’s already topping streaming charts worldwide.
About the Game
The Apartment Game, or 아파트 (pronounced apateu), usually involves rhythmic clapping and chanting as participants build excitement, creating a communal and festive atmosphere—a vibe captured throughout the track.
In Korea, “APT” stands for "Apartment", where friends play a fun, fast-paced drinking game involving rhythmic clapping, chanting, and a bit of luck. Here’s a breakdown of how it goes:
  1. Start with a Chant: Begin by chanting the words “[name]~’s favorite random game, game start!” (Think of the song intro, where Rosé brings the hype.)
  2. Group Chanting: Gather around and chant  “apart, apart, apart” just like in the song, and bring your hands together in the center.
  3. Counting Challenge: One person, a tagger, shouts a random number, counts up one by one, stacking each person’s hand from the bottom to the top until you reach the number the tagger called out.
  4. The Countdown: Whoever places their hand on top when the number is reached takes a drink. The catch? That person becomes the next “tagger” who shouts a number.
If you want to play it like the pros, mix soju and beer (we call it "so-maek" in Korea) for an authentic twist.
Check out "APT" on your favorite streaming platform and maybe even try the game with friends.
